From November 1, 2025, Indian citizens who want to apply for a Bulgaria long-term visa (D visa) can now do so through VFS Global centres in six Indian cities Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, and New Delhi.

This new service has been launched by the Embassy of Bulgaria in New Delhi in partnership with VFS Global. Earlier, applicants could only apply in Delhi, but now people across India can complete their visa process closer to home.

For those applying outside Delhi, appointment slots are expected to open by mid-November. Applicants can book their appointments online at https://visa.vfsglobal.com/ind/en/bgr.

What does this new step mean for Indian applicants?

The new system was officially signed on October 24, 2025, between Mr. Nikolay Yankov, Ambassador of Bulgaria to India, and Ms. Yummi Talwar, Chief Operating Officer (South Asia) of VFS Global.

Ambassador Yankov said that expanding visa services across India will make the process easier and more accessible for people who wish to go to Bulgaria for study, work, or family purposes. He added that Bulgaria already offers short-term (C visa) services through VFS Global, and now both visa types can be handled on one platform.

How will VFS Global help?

Ms. Talwar mentioned that VFS Global has been working with Bulgaria since 2008, and the new partnership further strengthens this bond. She said that by opening visa centres in more cities, Indians will save time and travel costs, as they can now complete the process locally.

VFS Global will manage :

  • Receiving visa applications
  • Collecting documents and biometric data
  • Optional paid services like Visa At Your Doorstep, Premium Lounge, Prime Time submissions, Courier delivery, SMS updates, and Form-filling help

    • However, the company clarified that visa approvals are decided only by the Embassy of Bulgaria, not by VFS Global.
