New Delhi:
As the United States faces turmoil over its H-1B visa program following a sharp $100,000 fee hike, Germany is positioning itself as an attractive alternative for Indian professionals. Philipp Ackermann, the German Ambassador to India, has issued an open invitation to “highly skilled Indians” to consider career opportunities in Germany across IT, management, science, and technology sectors.
Sharing the message on X, Ackermann emphasized Germany’s stable migration policies and promising job prospects. “This is a call to all Indians with great skill. Germany offers reliable migration policies and excellent opportunities in IT, management, science, and technology,” he said.
In an accompanying video, the ambassador highlighted the strong earning potential for Indians in Germany. Indians earn some of the highest salaries in Germany. On average, an Indian professional earns more than the average German in similar roles. This reflects their significant contribution to our society and economy. We value hard work and provide the best jobs to the most talented individuals,” Ackermann explained.
He also subtly contrasted Germany’s approach with the unpredictable US immigration policies. Our migration system functions similarly to a modern, dependable, and predictable German automobile. It moves forward smoothly without sudden changes, and you don’t have to worry about abrupt shifts,” he added.
The ambassador’s remarks come shortly after the US raised the H-1B visa fee by nearly 60 percent to $100,000 (around Rs 88 lakh). The hike makes it more expensive for US companies to employ foreign talent on-site. Indian professionals, who represent over 70 percent of H-1B recipients in recent years, are expected to be most affected by this policy change.
With Germany offering a stable, high-paying alternative, Indian skilled workers now have a compelling reason to explore opportunities in the European nation.
