New Delhi : The 2024 edition of the Henley Passport Index has just been unveiled! According to the latest rankings in Q1, the Indian passport maintains its position at 80th. This comes after a noteworthy leap from 87th to 80th last year, and it has sustained this ranking for the current year. Notably, the count of visa-free destinations accessible to Indian passport holders has seen a rise.

As per the 2024 rankings, individuals with an Indian passport can now explore 62 destinations without the hassle of obtaining a visa. Comparatively, in the 2023 Passport Index, Indians were able to travel to 52 destinations without requiring a visa.

Reflecting on the scenario in 2022, the Indian passport secured the 87th position, allowing visa-free access to approximately 60 destinations. However, in the past two years, there has been a commendable improvement in India’s passport ranking.

In the 2024 rankings of the Henley Passport Index, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Singapore, and Spain have all secured the top spot, boasting passports that grant visa-free access to 194 destinations. Interestingly, Singapore, which held the top position in 2023, has now joined the tie for first place, while Japan has moved down to the second position.

The second tier of the ranking in 2024 is occupied by Finland, South Korea, and Sweden, with a commendable visa-free travel allowance to 193 countries. Following closely behind in the third position are Austria, Denmark, Ireland, and the Netherlands, offering passport holders access to 192 destinations without the need for a visa.
