About Schengen visa:

It is an authorization issued by one of the Member States of the Schengen Area. It is a mutual border between European countries. The Schengen visa stays for up to 90 days within 180 days. A Schengen visa is an official meeting between you and the visa official.

Questions asked in an interview:

Marital status:

In the interview, you will be asked whether you are married. If married you must give information about your spouse like work type, European citizen, and so on…  for how long you are married. Is your spouse traveling along with you?

Income tax:

They may ask you “Do you pay income tax” If yes you have to provide the required documents of income tax and they may ask what was the last time you paid income tax. It is asked to check your financial background.

Country:

You will be asked about the nation, state, or political entity which means sovereign state. The interviewer may ask you about the countries to know your honesty and to know if you are not engaging in any fraud.

How much do you earn:

The interviewer wants to know your salary or because they want to know if you can afford the travel. You have to give information about your salary and work type of the business.

Where you are going to stay:

The interviewer wants to know about the stay in the Schengen country where you want to stay and how long you want to stay. If you have visited Schengen countries before they will call you only for information.

Education:

They will inquire about your qualifications. You have to give your highest degree certificate and proof. You need to mention your school, university, and board from which you have studied.

With whom do you live:

You have to give the details of with whom do you live with and the relationship between you and them. Where do you live and what is the temporary and permanent address?

About traveling:

You will be asked if this is your first time traveling to Schengen country. Is this a study tour or a tourist tour?  Which Schengen country are you planning to travel to? What do you know about the country you are traveling to?

Tips to keep in mind while attending an interview

  • You have to be calm and composed.
  • Keep recalling the answers that can be asked in an interview.
  • Take a deep breath and stay relaxed.
  • Give the answers with honesty.
  • Dress yourself well and formally
  • Arrive at the interview early on time.
  • Keep extra documents
  • Understand visa requirements and conditions
  • Keep in mind that you are providing these answers for the information.
  • Last but least, keep smiling.

Required documents for Schengen visa

  • Valid passport: Check your passport validity which should be valid for 3 months after getting a visa for the traveling
  • Application form: You can usually get this form from the embassy or consulate website. You have to fill the form correctly and submit the original document.
  • Passport-size photos: Get some recent photos taken where your face can be seen clearly, and the background must be white.
  • Proof of accommodation: You need to show them the bookings or a letter from your host if you’re staying with friends or family.
  • Proof of funds: You should have to prove you have enough money to cover your expenses while you’re in the Schengen countries. This could be through bank statements, proof of income, or letters from sponsors.
  • Letter of employment: If you going for the job, you must take a letter from the employer which is important for the confirmation that you are going for the job purpose in Schengen countries.
  • Purpose of visit: Depending on why you’re visiting—like for business tourism, or to see family—you might need extra documents like invitation letters or proof of your relationship with the person you’re visiting.
  • Additional documents: Sometimes, you might need to provide more stuff, like showing where you’ve travelled before or explaining why you’re visiting.
  • Travel insurance: You’ll also need travel insurance that covers medical emergencies during your trip, with at least €30,000 in coverage.

Application fees for visa

  • Children below the age of 6 have no fees.
  • Adults have to pay 80€ for the visa.

For children above 6 40€ are the fees applicable.

Note- The amount you are paying for a visa can be non-refundable. The fees can be increased according to the application process.
